Food insecurity, which limits families' access to food due to financial constraints or uncertainties, is the central theme of this study on Angola between 2019 and 2021, using the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES) with data from the Employment Survey (IEA) by the National Statistics Institute. The results showed that before the pandemic, there was already an alarming reality, with a significant portion of the population experiencing various levels of food insecurity. COVID-19 had mixed effects: while there was a reduction in severe food insecurity, moderate food insecurity increased significantly, indicating worsening vulnerabilities. In 2021, food insecurity levels reached alarming levels, especially in the severe category, highlighting the devastating socioeconomic impacts of the pandemic. This underscores the importance of considering socioeconomic diversity when formulating responses to food insecurity.
