HARNESSING ANGOLA'S DEMOGRAPHIC POTENTIAL TO ACHIEVE THE DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND

The demographic potential of Angola is remarkable, with a young population and a high fertility rate, placing the country at the beginning of its demographic transition. Through bibliographic and documentary research, the aim of this article is to analyze Angola's demographic potential to achieve the demographic dividend. The expansion of the working-age population offers economic opportunities, requiring investments in education, health, and employment. However, challenges such as unequal access to education, gender disparities, and public health issues hinder the achievement of the demographic dividend. Dependence on oil and economic inequalities further complicate the situation. To harness the dividend, Angola needs to invest in human capital, especially in women's education, and create jobs for the growing population, thereby avoiding an increase in social instability and crime. Failure to implement these measures may result in negative consequences.
