In January 2021, community health promoters (CHPs) under Amref Health Africa and its partners conducted a community household registration exercise in Navakholo sub-county Kenya, using a mobile application. This exercise was part of baseline planning for the “Innovative Partnership for Universal and Sustainable Healthcare” (iPUSH) intervention that sought to recruit and enrol households and women into the national health insurance (NHIF) scheme. Analysis of the dataset indicates health insurance coverage of 14% and 11% respectively at household and individual-woman levels, which are lower than those generated from national sample surveys. A similar exercise was conducted over May-June 2023 in the same households. The purpose of this paper is to link the two datasets and examine the effects of the iPUSH intervention on increasing the levels of use of health insurance cover among households and women of reproductive age (WRA). Analysis is conducted in STATA and R programs.
