Over the past two decades, Mali has made significant progress in improving access to drinking water through innovative policies and interventions. Despite abundant water resources, rural areas face disparities in access. This study examines factors influencing drinking water access in a rural Mali municipality, utilizing socio-economic data and advanced statistical analyses. Key determinants include water source, electricity access, and household head's income, with a notable link between subpar water quality and diarrheal illness. Emphasizing sociodemographic characteristics, the research informs policymaking, guiding infrastructure choices to democratize drinking water access in rural areas. The study serves as a valuable resource for scientists and policymakers, offering insights into Mali's water dynamics and guiding future policies to meet the diverse needs of rural communities.
